Well, damn. Her new solo album is a freaking blast. An amazing musician who should be so much more known than many of her peers.

X Ray Spex had a reunion album in '95? Had no idea. Anyone heard it?

You can listen to her new album streaming :

I really like the new one. Nice melodies and a return to some of her old lyrical concerns. Good stuff.

This one makes you wince. Based on what I've read about her spiritual development, I can imagine that she faced it with grace and courage.

The album from '95 is certainly no embarrassment, even if it's not as thrilling as GFA. Lora Logic was back on sax. If anything, they sound a bit more like vintage Blondie than the early Spex. I think they did quite a bit of touring in the latter half of the 90s(maybe even into the early 00s?). Not sure when or why it fell apart for the second time.

I can't help thinking life was pretty cruel to Poly, but she certainly didn't give the impression she had much time for self-pity.

Hard to believe, but she gave an interview recently to The Guardian from her room in hospice.

"You remember that old song 'Que Sera Sera, Whatever will be, will be, the future's not ours to see'? I've always felt that. It's been a rollercoaster ride, but I wouldn't change a thing."
