Pete Phipps

Listened to Mummer this morning for the first time in a while and was again impressed by the drumming. I'd never bothered to investigate who Pete Phipps was, so imagine my surprise to discover that he'd come from Gary Glitter's band! Which is even weirder than XTC bringing in their next drummer from the Tubes.

I guess that was due to Todd Rundgren's involvement. He had produced two albums for The Tubes before signing on to produce Skylarking, so I suppose he thought Prairie Prince would be a good match-up (or at least a good drummer who would take direction well).
