I'm listening to Over and Over and reminded how good it is.
Somebody tell me about recent releases by the 88.

I listen to the theme from Community at least once a day. God, I love that song. I've been meaning to check on their other stuff, but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

The theme from Community rules, as does that show.

I swear if that show gets cancelled I will have no connection to anything remotely above ground in pop culture any more.

The 88 have always known how to nail a good hook into your brain.

So which is better between Not Only... But Also and This Must Be Love? I know I listened to the s/t one from a few months ago but given that I can't remember it maybe I should look for one of the other two?
------
1st season of Community was good. But seems to me they've run out of ideas and become predictable: Winger says something sarcastic; Abed references an 80s movie, etc. Then they have an argument, making up at the end. That's okay if it's joke-driven (like 30Rock's one-liners) but the last several I watched had zero laughs and plot retreads so I gave up. My hope is that they write in more a)The Dean b)Chevy c)Prof Duncan d)New profs for storylines. The core student study group is too thin. I was surprised to find out the setting for Greendale is Colorado. I just assumed it was Cal.

I think Over and Over is the only real exceptional one they've cut.

That one has the biggest hooks and most bounce to it. Like a lot of power-pop they are better in small doses - after about 4-5 cuts it becomes harder to tell the distinctiveness.

All the other records have their moments but Over and Over is the right mix.

I agree that this season isn't quite as good, but that's like saying The Magnificent Ambersons isn't as good as Citizen Kane. Or Reckoning's not as good as Murmur.

I've enjoyed Portlandia.

(Sketch comedy where Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen repeatedly skewer Pac NW young adult/ hipster culture).

Last one had Corin Tucker and Jenny Conlee.

Childrens Hospital has been playing on Adult Swim and old Larry Sanders episodes on IFC.
