Haven't owned any Residents (audio) in over a decade. Ready to give it another go. Where should I start?

That reminds me. Did anyone else love Pee Wee's Playhouse in it's original run even though you were an adult? Man that's a classic (on DVD, too.).

Well, I was in college when "Pee Wee's Playhouse" was on and I watched it. Does that count as adult?

Funny this subject should come up now - veteran LA punk visual artist/comix king Gary Panter is featured in a big hoity-toity art museum show here ("Masters of Comics" or somesuch) and I was just reading an interview with him - he won Emmys for his "Pee Wee" design work. He also did some great records with the Residents backing him. But recent Residents? No idea...

Just any Residents. Where does one start?

If I love it I just might marry it.

ANY Residents? Oh, well, I'm not a particulalry big fan of theirs, but "Duck Stab/Buster and Glen" has some great, relatively accessible stuff on it - quirky rock a la early Devo or Pere Ubu.

Or any compilation with "Constantinople" on it.

"Third Reich and Roll" is my favorite. Their version of "Satisfaction" make Devo look like wedding singers.
"Duck Stab" is next. More of a cross between Pere Ubu, Kraftwerk and a 3 year old with a Fishcer Price keyboard (my 3 year old loves the Residents)with High Pitch Eric singing lead.
Constantinople, Hello Skinny, Krafty Cheese, Bach is Dead, and Semolina are my all time Res Faves contained on that very same disc.
After that" Eskimo" and "Diskomo 2000" if you want.
Tread lightly on anything else, kinda like buying Beefheart, lick your finger and test which way the wind blows.

Duck Stab/Buster & Glen was always my fave, and I loved large chunks of the commercial album, also.

The King is Dead or whatever the Elvis album was would be interesting by anyone else, disappointing by the Residents.

The Commercial Album is on DVD, I'm assuming that means you get 60 one minunte videos (have not investigated this). If this is the case (and the few clips I've seen from that record are pretty whacky) then that might be quite good value don't you think?

Saw them this year at the What Is Music Festival and they opened with Snakefinger's Picnic In The Jungle which bought a smile but they were nowhere near as good as Chicks On Speed or those Finnish frequnecy terrorists Pan-Sonic, at least I think they're Finnish.
