Hmmm, the Music Box theater is pretty small, capacity 800 or so. Has OMD's popularity fallen that low? Geez, when they toured with Depeche Mode in the '80s they were practically playing stadiums.

Good for fans tho.

Skipping the Pacific NW, I see. Oh well, at least Delvin will get to see 'em.

I'm not wild about committing to heading four hours up the road to Chicago in what is still technically winter, but for OMD I imagine I'll give it a try, and hope I don't end up buying tickets for a blizzard weekend.

Yeah, and in a place that's about the same capacity as the Music Box.

O.M.D. gave a fine show Tuesday night in Denver, to a sold-out crowd (about 700 people) at the Bluebird Theatre. The set list was pretty evenly spread out across the group's entire catalog, even including a couple songs from Liberator and Universal (the albums recorded without Paul Humphreys). The musicians sure seemed to be enjoying themselves, and Andy McCluskey worked up quite a sweat dancing. Well, moving around, anyway.

Having seen Urgh! again recently, I remembered how skinny Humphreys used to be; he's put on some weight since then, no surprise. In fact, he looks a lot like Chris Difford of Squeeze. Wonder if anyone's seen the two together lately.

They have included Portland on their fall tour and I just won free tix to see 'em at a medium-sized venue (where I've seen Roky, the Residents, and Dinosaur in the last coupla years) on October 1. I might have paid the $20 or so to go to the show anyway, but now I'll definitely be there.

And I also get another chance to see Devo this weekend after waiting too goddamn long to buy tix in the spring and having the show sell out on me.

Yippee! It's like 1983 all over again!

You lucky devil! Still smarting over the fact that Devo played three Colorado dates last summer and I couldn't fit even one of them into my schedule.

Ain't feeling quite so lucky after dropping nearly $100 for the general admission tix ($40 apiece plus all the damn fees) for me and my wife, so it had better be good! They also had some limited amount of "meet and greet" tickets available for something like $100 apiece. As fun as I think it would be to chat with those guys, I just cannot justify that kinda money for the honor....

Based on my own experiences, I can say that meeting your favorite musician(s) may be cool, and may impart some bragging rights ... but I can't imagine a single one whom I'd pay to meet.
