I'd never think of Squirrel Bait as a hardcore band, but I gotta give Grohl props for citing "Sun God," a song I heard on some Homestead compilation two decades ago that has captivated me ever since. Still my favorite SQ song.

I'd also high-five him for including "For Want Of," my favorite Rites of Spring tune.

And anybody that shines a light on Curtis Mayfield's body of work besides "Superfly" is OK with me.

That said, since when did Robbie Robertson become an expert on New Orleans music? Did they not listen to Storyville before they asked him?

Bono's list of Bowie songs is, with a couple of exceptions, painfully predictable.

Somebody needs to tell Lars Ulrich that putting Bachman-Turner Overdrive on your list of top 10 hard rock/metal songs automatically torpedoes whatever credibility you think you're building by including obscure Japanese metal bands.
