Lyrics on Albums bar question

OK, sports fans, someone at work asked the impossible question today, what was the first rock album to include lyrics? (Don't bother with anything after 1967, since Sgt. Peppers has 'em.) Without checking, I ventured the Fugs.... Any votes here?

You're right about the impossible part.
Probably a more obscure group.
Independent or homemade label.
I can't imagine a major label allowing it.

anthology of american folk music

(the 2nd harry smith allusion in one small thread. yeah!)

how come i think the real answer is the kingston trio; not the tom dooley, hungry i period, but their 62-64 stuff. you know, for campfires, hootenanies, amd emmitt till fundraisings.

i have no idea, in other words.

Kill, kill, kill for peace
Kill, kill, kill for peace
Near or middle or very far east
Far or near or very middle east
Kill, kill, kill for peace
Kill, kill, kill for peace
If you don't like the people
or the way that they talk
If you don't like their manners
or they way that they walk,
Kill, kill, kill for peace
Kill, kill, kill for peace
If you don't kill them
then the Chinese will
