I've had a "desert island" top 3 list that hasn't changed in about 15 years: Minutemen's "Double Nickels", Buzzcocks' "Singles Going Steady", and XTC's "Black Sea." I'm sure I could come up with 2 others, but those would top the list.

In no particular order:

QUADROPHENIA - The Who
TENACIOUS D
RED HEADED STRANGER - Willie Nelson
SINGLES Soundtrack
ROCKET TO RUSSIA -The Ramones

Now how about your five most EMBARRASSING favorites--those selections in your music collection that, despite your better judgment, continue to bring you enjoyment. I thought of these:

A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS
UNDER THE TABLE AND DREAMING - Dave Matthews Band
GORDON - Bare Naked Ladies
LITTLE MAGNETS VERSUS THE BUBBLE OF BABBLE - Transvision Vamp
ELECTRIC - The Cult

C'mon, give us your dirt.

5 desert islands-
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
Clash - Sandinista!
Husker Du - Zen Arcade
MBV - Loveless
Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation

stable for a decade but for two:

pointlessly opinionated? yes
unuseful? no
whenever i went to tower records, i always picked up a copy of pulse.
my favorite part was the desert island discs.
if a reader's list of ten choices had 8 or 9 records that i had, i looked at
the other 1 or 2 as something i should check out.
looking at your list, i have 5 of the albums.
i don't have "meat is murder", but i do have "hatful of hollow".
i have nothing by my bloody valentine.

ONLY FIVE??!!!
If I was told to grab my TOP 5 albums and I only had a minute to comply....well,.....my answer would probably change each day, but I will go on and NOT fight the POWER.............
I enjoy these among others OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER......and so on and so on and so on and so on.............
They would have to be:
(not in any particular order)
1. The WHO -- Who's Next ( I agree w/ HUGH above)
2. AEROSMITH --- TOYS IN THE ATTIC
3. CHEAP TRICK --- DREAM POLICE
4. DEVO ---Freedom of CHOICE
5. FOO FIGHTERS --- The Colour and The SHAPE

Out of curiosity, do you have Devo's 1st 3 (Be Stiff, Q:Are We Not Men, Duty Now for the Future)? or Cheap trick's first 3?

Mekons: Rock and Roll
Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell -- Greatest Hits
Elvis Costello -- Armed Forces
Beatles -- This Russian Beatles CD that has Beatles For Sale and Rubber Soul on the same disc. Find these things. Buy them. They sound better and have more stuff on them than the official releases.
Gang of Four -- The Peel Sessions, full, 11 track CD. Smokes and sparks like a chainsaw ripping through a dictionary. Paraphrased that.
