If you or a friend are into vintage punk and archaic technology, I just found a Betamax tape of an Avengers concert. I found it in a closet I'm cleaning out for the first time in 16 years.

I can't speak to the quality of the tape or the performance, as I have never owned a Betamax player in my life. But I think I recall picking the tape up at Goodwill once convinced I would find someone who could transfer it from Betamax to VHS then never bothered to try to find anyone to do it.

So if anyone wants the thing, it's free to the first person who raises their hand to ask for it. I'd rather an Avengers fan end up with it than to send it back to Goodwill.

I can't say I'm an Avengers fan (I've simply never heard them - embarrassing, I know), but I do work at a TV station and might be able to have that tape transferred to something more useful (like a DVD). That's if betamax is compatible with beta sp. (I'm not an engineer, so I'm not sure.) But let's treat that as a last resort - if there's a betamax-owning Avengers fan on this board, that's who should get it.

Betamax and Beta SP are two different formats entirely ... which is not to say that the guys at the TV station couldn't possibly help you with a transfer. Dudes like that tend to keep all sorts of equipment handy, whether as professionals or as hobbyists. Check into it.

We've got lots of packrats around here when it comes to old equipment. I'll make inquiries.
