I just found out that the Fall covered The Move's "I can hear the grass grow" WOW.

What the hey, no MOVE entry around here.
Jim Green's back though, who know's?
Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

I'll second that - a comprehensive Move & Roy Wood entry is long overdue here.

Although would that necessitate following them into ELO?

Yes, but only through their "No Answer" Lp
Actually, I've heard Ira did sleeve notes for ELO on a compilation for them awhile back, I haven't read them though.

actually i'm listening to ELO's first --remastered into an unnecessary 2 pronged CD'ed monster--for the first time in 20 years as i read this; much of it is great; lynn has never sounded more peculiar and high pitched conflictive and his plagiarism of mid beatles is breathtaking and matchless and audacious. this being said the high points are wood's--oddball instrumentation, aching vocal work, and fierce iconoclasm.

this has been a roy week for me as it is; the 3 cd movements fell from the sky last week into my arms and although there are few rarities there are enough (with a cleaned up sound) to justify its presence in my overcrowded life.

which leads me to this point. IR wrote the liners for the 94 EMI Great Move The Best of the move; "great" fits (oh goodness it fits) but best of is a slight misnomer: it is actually the entire Message From the Country LP (whose title song in its myriad richness simultaneously suggests ELO and Cheap Trick) and a collection of great later move singles, one of which Do Ya is being resurrected on a Monster.Com omnipresent ad. Message has been re released this year as a upgrade on its sounds; IR did not do the liners there much to the detriment of the final product which does, however, have superior sound.

sometimes, though, i prefer my move murky and muddy.
