Whatever you may think of Ronnie James Dio...I mean, come on. Really now. Don't these people have anything better to do?

We've seen those "people" here in Colorado, on numerous occasions, protesting the funerals of soldiers who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Don't get me started.

I firmly believe in the cliche: "I disagree with everything you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." But if there's any group (besides bomb-throwing abortion protesters) that tests that statement to its limits, it's Fred Phelps and his crew. If they're within their rights to pour their hatemongering, irrational (and, it bears repeating, very unChristian) bullshit on folks just trying to mourn their loved ones, then I think the mourners are within their rights to thrash them within an inch of their miserable, media whoring lives.

So, in their case, "I will defend to just short of your death your right to say it" ...

If you're pissin' those people off, you're doing something right. I hope their presence is met by a mass demonstration of metal horns from the assembled mourners.

That would be a true honor to a great rocker's memory.

On a related note, I'm now casting Ronnie James as the authority figure (Principle? Teacher?) in my "Dead Rockers" remake of The Breakfast Club. The rest of the casting might follow. I'm taking suggestions, BTW.

They're a sad lot. If there's a Hell, I hope whoever abused them as children is writhing in as much pain as divinely possible.

Satan probably kicked them out because they were too masochistic.

I never understood the "preordained" strains of Christianity, WBC theology included. If you are pre-ordained or pre-condemned, what's the point of preaching?
