I imagine a much different sort of Tea Party, one where the Red Queen is speaking from a dais to an agitated gathering of Mad Hatters, barking semi-coherent rants punctuated by frequent exhortations of "Off with his head!"

One of the ironies of life as a Beatle was that you could be focused on Eastern philosophy and tried to divest yourself from earthly concerns ... but were free to bitch and moan about taxation. Cranberry sauce.

You do realize that the Beatles, being in the top tax bracket at the time of Harold Wilson's Labour government, were indeed subject to a 95% tax rate? When the government leaves you with 5% you have significantly less to donate to the poor and downtrodden, making the British government the single largest recipient of your earnings. I don't think the Beatles had a problem with giving charitably, only that they weren't allowed many options about how it be done.

BTW, does anyone know what the tax rate on the British Royal Family is?
