i think i'm losing my mind

its easy and could happen to anyone. just for reminders today i distinctly heard kathleen scream in captals 'STEVE' (i.e. my girl sounds pissed & or frightened) right during a pete townshend feedback (sELL oUT) solo. i quickly move to where i thought the source of the scream came from. alas! only to find said wife happily (subjective perception) chopping veggies in kitchen.

so be sure to invite the ghost of pete townshend or any of your favourite british invasive to your next st patricks day celebration!

Actually, Steve, that was a studio gaffe, much like Pete's "I saw ya" at the end of "Happy Jack."

What you heard during that solo, buried in the original guide track, was Daltrey screaming at Steve Moon, Keith's brother. From what I've read, Keith was the sedate one compared to Steve. His idea of a good joke to play on Daltrey was to sneak up from behind and do a reach-around on him.

But of course, timing is everything. Four years later, during a Who recording session at Olympic Studios, Steve pulled the same immature stunt on Roger ... and this time, the crazy bastard squeezed the meat & two veg hard! As luck would have it, Steve did that during a vocal recording for "Won't Get Fooled Again," at just the right moment ... thus transforming what might otherwise have been one of Daltrey's typical yells into, arguably, the single greatest scream in rock.

Oh, I dunno ... The one that opens "TV Eye" is a strong contender.

How 'bout Skunk, at the start of Now I Got Worry?

This also reminds me, I was visiting a couple of friends in their new abode many years ago and stopped at the front door due to what I thought was a violent agrument going on inside. I waiting across the road for about 15 minutes then thought I brave it and go in. They were both sitting there friendly as you like watching the grand prix. Turns out they had been listening to the Bad News (or is it More Bad News?) soundtrack which features an arguement after this final tune

Hmmm, "Meat and Two Veg" ... not the worst band name I ever heard.
