I saw 'em in NYC on that original tour. We had to sit through what felt like eight hours of wretched techno music (and is there any other kind?) by some faceless DJ before the band hit the stage. Bobby Gillespie had one stage move:
Jimp up 'an doun 'an claip yer hainds abuin yer heid. As far as being a great singer ... he's a great drummer.
But it
was a wildly terrific time all around.
Their cover of "Slip Inside This House" would be featured prominently on the one-CD soundtrack of my life circa whenever the hell that was.
