New Hendrix album

New Hendrix album coming in March to mark the 40th anniversary of his death. This will be his 8th posthumous album, making him nearly three times as prolific from beyond the grave than he was in life.

Makes one shudder to think what Robert Pollard will be able to produce once he's freed of the burden of actually being alive. He'll probably be able to release an individual album for every person on the planet once he's in the ground.

Have Hendrix or Tupac had more posthumous releases? I'll bet Tupac is slightly ahead...

I think the record should be titled Scraping the Bottom of the Barrel In Order to Beat the Dead Horse Underneath.

Whenever this happens I think there's a reason it wasn't released, like Bob Marley giving Buffalo Soldier a miss due to the Banana Splits thing.

I just rewatched the movie "Clean" the other day and I must have been out of the room when the line about James Johnstone's character Lee being "worth more dead than alive" was delivered to Maggie Cheung through the prison glass.

The punch line about him making "the cover of MOJO" was a real pisser.

How sadly true. And well merited.

During his lifetime, Hendrix released three studio albums, two live albums (one a split with Otis Redding) and one compilation. (This isn't counting records he performed on by other artists, such as the Isley Brothers.)

Since his death in 1970, there have been seven more Hendrix studio albums, 17 live albums (at least four of which rehash previously released live shows — Monterey, Woodstock, Fillmore East, Isle of Wight), and at least 26 comps.

Experience Hendrix LLC, the company set up by Jimi's family after they won the rights to his music and legacy, has released at least 23 more live performances — about half of them on disc, the other half available to stream from the company's web site.

Meanwhile, Tupac put out five studio albums during his career (not counting his appearances with other artists, such as Digital Underground). Since his death, there have been eight more studio albums, and ten compilations.
