Ian Curtis chose Iggy's The Idiot.

Kurt Cobain chose Automatic for the People (making for a nice advertisement for the effectiveness of "Everybody Hurts" in its stated purpose as a suicide preventative...)

So if you knew the exact moment you would be departing this plane of existence, what would be the last album you would listen to?

Well assuming I was pulling a Curtis/Cobain I'd go with The Only Ones Peel Sessions, which in the original tracklist ended with "The Big Sleep" and in the current edition ends with "Why Don't You Kill Yourself?".

That Only Ones CD is AWESOME. I had an original version pilfered from my backpack during a sleep-debt-snatch on the subway in Philly. Then I went and bought the reissue and it has a mastering flaw! Ugh! Thank goodness I'd ripped most of it onto my PC!

I used to tell people that it sounded like Gordon Gano fronting The Pretenders. Ballpark, right?

Yeah that flaw in the reissue is apparently from the original source tape. I had actually asked the label about that (Hux records) and they said it "wasn't fixable" with what they had to work with on the original tape.

The Only Ones are one of my fave bands, I'm kind of an obsessive with them - they had a great schtick :

Songs either about drugs being like love or about how love is like a drug. They got lots of mileage out of that formula.

yeah, double off the wall, ballpark.
the only ones were like many bands, heck many still are, heavily influenced by dylan the VU & Modern Lovers.

hows that for an understatement.

millions of bands is more like it.
