an ideal gig topic

if you could arrange and attend a great show this week of bands that are currently playing out (including groups in reunion tours), what would the line-up be?

I'd love to see a little mini-festival with the Flaming Lips headlining, and opening bands the Danielson Famile, Cafe Tacuba, Joy Zipper and Super Furry Animals.

I'd have a Texas/Swedish/Finnish hardcore punk blowout

Oh man, the very thought of XTC returning to live performance is enough to bring tears of joy to my eyes. Not very likely to occur, of course, but if the VU could do it, I guess just about any reunion tour is possible. But "with or without" Andy Partridge? I don't see how a band, touring or not, could rightly call itself XTC without Andy AND Colin in the line-up.

A club show featuring the Stones "in an unpopulated state"? Well, I guess, since this is all fantasy anyway ... Nice to see a shout for Oasis.

when someone on this forum mentioned a fleshtones gig, i decided i 'needed' a fleshtones show and proceeded to request one at their website (though not expecting one) and received a prompt reply, 'how about sept 16?' off the bat, i thought of tacking on love tractor (who gave a good sxsw show), and while i was at it, adding the amazing let downs (local band that is a bit of a richard hell/ television strain). style wise, this would be a bit 'mix and match' but chances are that all three bands would provide the club with a night of rockin' out. rather than contact these other bands (could you play with the fleshtones on...at..?) i asked you guys what would be your lovely combo.
tailoring a lalapalooza type show would be engrossing, too, but would have take place in ideal, outdoor, settings like the ampitheatre in sevilla, which blends in architecturally with the surrounding city and has ample space for people to mill around, similar to the july 3rd concerts in d.c. by the washington monument which featured local acts.
it would be great to coordinate a few line-ups online, as if i was in a candy shop, especially with so many bands reuniting. so much choice compared to our discussion about the latter 2/3s of the nineties & 1/3 of the beginning of 2000 (exceptions as always, ie, possum dixon). i definitely would recruit the neats to reunite if i could. at the same time, a lot of unique gigs can have more to do with audience/band rapport than with band skill; full moons help.

I gave Oasis the props because of their new LP (their best in eons). If all mainstream rock was this good, R-n-R would experience a renaissance.

As for Andy Partridge, whatever happened with the one-off duo he recorded with Rob Schneider {of Denver's "Apples (in stereo)"}?

The last thing I was aware of Partridge doing was the theme song for WONDERFALLS, one of the the many great tv shows cancelled by Fox after two episodes or so.
