Middle Cyclone is nothing like Fox Confessor and about 1/3 as good. I dont think enjoyment of the latter implies enjoyment of the former.

p.s. Middle Cyclone is the first and last album I have bought in a Starbucks. Beware of the Starbucks-NPR-Chipotle-pop-music-complex.

i'd say middle cyclone is even better than fox confessor, an album i recommend highly & often.

it is one of the few physical cd purchases i've made this year

It boggles my mind to imagine a scenario where Neko Case makes a CD not worth owning. Not at this point, anyway. Not yet. You tryin' to depress me?

Reminds me of a nightmare I once had wherein Mazzy Star went techno. The video was totally crap-vegas boopity-boop, with Sandoval jumpin' around and mugging like a diva. Ever heard the Ace of Base version of "I've Been Let Down?" I didn't think so.

:::shudder:::

No worries. Mazzy Star changes at such a glacial pace that they'll all be dead before they even realize techno might be an option.

...

Ms. Case is mighty talented and it seems to me that her artistic orbit would not be easily perturbed. Of course, I have not heard that new CD.

That is a Cougar on the cover, isn't it?

Has anyone ever seen this movie? I keep meaning to track it down and never get around to it.

Shevchenko is a really common Ukrainian name... (as is anything ending -enko).

I am listening to an NPR podcast of her show at the Newport Folk Festival right now:

Hell yeah, it's really entertaining. It must be on Netflix.

Sorry, I have to disagree. I have to look at my notes (yes, I keep notes on every film I see), but as I remember the film fell into the documentary trap of talking heads and trying to cram the history of women's wrestling into 90 minutes or so.

i only knoe ms case from tele performances. na wait, & the new pornographers 'elec version' album too.

i saw a confident singer pushing mediocre songs almost to the point of indulgence. the future is still bright for her though.

Ha! At first I read that as if the Talking Heads were setting a trap for women wrestlers using documentaries.

Which would definitely be an interesting occurrence. I'd like to live in a world where such a thing would happen.
