EXPLODING HEARTS

FROM here i got turned on to their music and got 2 of their cds. didnt know anything about them and finally looked them up on youtube the other day.
Was wondering why there was no new releases by them. found out 3 members of their group died in a car crash.
Have their been any groups or artists that passed on that you didnt know or ones that you started listening to when finding out about their death?

The Exploding Hearts were a tremendous band - so few bands actually get power-pop right and they had the sensibility down cold.

Guitar Romantic is firmly secure in my top 10 for this decade, but that other album, 'Shattered" - the one with B-sides and demos is a blast too and I think I may even play that one more nowadays.

I listened to Joy Division more or less when/because Ian Curtis died - I was a young teen and my older brother was talking to me about his death and how great they were, etc. I specifically remember playing those records to try to make sense of the way my brother was describing the circumstances of the band and his death.

I eas putting friends of mine onto Bill Hicks for a while before I found out he was dead.
I also purchased Guitar Romantic purely on the say so of this board.

Likewise. Have since purchased copies of it as gifts for at least two people.
