to be johnny deep.
lives in france (cause he's afraid of tiger sharks), but his git resume includes stints with austin's (hi Micheal T!) P and shane mcGowanS pogues.

plus he admitted swiping the look, dress and drugified pirate version of one KR (clue: keef is one STILL rolling muthafuckin stone) coked out in da caribe man, cir 75.

to think...that a common MIRAMAR HIGH SCHOOL (hollywood, fl.) dropout would amount to anything @ all.

my qwest shun then tPers is,
have any of you gone to sKool with faME us peeple?

Funny story. I went to an all-boys school 5th-8th grade and Brad Paisley was a year older. Every school function he would be on the stage in the auditorium playing music. Us punkers and freaks would always make fun of him for being such a dork. Him = pulling in 7-8 figures : Me = Low 5's. He wins.

The only notables from my high school are Jason Isringhausen, all time saves leader for the Cardinals (who was quite a bit younger than me) and Don Shanks, who played the Indian in the Grizzly Adams movies (who was quite a bit older than me, but his mother used to be my mom's hairdresser.)

Although a friend of mine has a World Series ring by virtue of being a trainer for the Yankees during the 90s and was even Steinbrenner's personal trainer for a while.

My friend Sterling writes Supergirl now.

I am Paul Westerberg's cousin. Well, he told me to say that to get me into a concert.

I used to do stand-up back in the 80s with soon-to-be SNL writer, movie director, and Will Ferrell partner, Adam McKay. I look back at our lives, measure our successes, and come to the conclusion that regarding all the crap he's contributed to comedy, the stuff in my head and the stuff I did on stage was way funnier. So I win, even though he may be making more money than me.

Johnny Depp was in the Pogues?!

I have that P album, but I thought they were LA-based, just cuz I didn't think Johnny lived in Austin and Gabby spent some time here. I could be wrong.

One of my high school teachers was one of Lawrence Welk's Lennon Sisters. And her sons, fellow students, played in the Nelson brother's band (remember them, that long blond hair?) Not very famous, I know. I think I'M the most famous musical figure out of my lame school.

The other principa of P was Austin-based guitarist/songwriter Bill Carter, which is why we claim them. But then-Los Angeleno Depp was indeed the biggest name, so who knows?

I somehow never saw or heard P. To this day I've no idea what they sound like.

You're not the only one - got their album for a buck in a cut-out bin.

They weren't very Butthole Surfer-ish. More of a routine rock sound. Hearing Gibby's straight-faced singing of ABBA's "Dancing Queen" is a hoot.

I only know P from its song "Michael Stipe," which also name-checks River Phoenix.

If Wikipedia is to be believed, P was performing that song at the Viper Room, on 30 October 1993, at the same moment that River Phoenix was going into drug-induced seizures on the sidewalk in front of the venue.

I didn't go to school with anyone famous, but I grew up going to church (St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic, Smyrna, GA) with Eric and Julia Roberts. Eric was quite a bit older, Julia was just a year ahead of me in CCD. They just seemed like other kids to me, although I knew they were supposed to be artsy. Oddly enough, their mother (Betty Moats) was the Archdiocese's administrator in charge of my parents' annulment, too.

Having known Eric and/or Julia Roberts is fairly common in our area.

No famous people at my high school, alas. One of the guys a couple of years ahead of me moved to Nashville and became a gospel singer for a while. And both my sister and I had future murderers in our respective classes.

I went to the same High School as the NFL's Barber twins. That was LONG before they were "of that age." I wasn't tres sportif anyway, and would never have deigned to socialize with them.

That's as close as I can get. So the answer would be a coffin-lid-slamming:

NO.
