Over in the "reunion" thread, someone mentioned that they saw Elvis Costello recently and the sound was awful.
I'm beginning to wonder if El has a deaf soundman or something. Every time I've seen him with a full band -- in any venue larger than a nightclub -- the sound has been terrible.
I saw him in an amphitheatre in 1991. I saw him in another outdoor venue on the Attractions reunion tour (1994?). In that venue, the sound was usually great but for Elvis it was really muddy. Then I saw him again in 2002 in a modern theater and the sound was terrible again.
The only times I've seen him with good sound were when he was doing an acoustic tour with Steve Nieve, and when I caught two last-minute club shows in 2003 in Providence.
Has anyone EVER seen Elvis with a band in a large venue and had the sound not suck? (In the last 10 or 15 years)??
