Cock Rock? And throbbing, moving songs like this that make you cry

out with sweaty passion & lust?

What bands play Cock Rock anymore? It's the girl groups nowadays.

Oh, dear God, you should have labeled that video. I hoped I was through with that one. Who is the modern equivalent of this performer? Kid Rock? Wait, I have KR's new album title:

Cock Rock From Kid Rock: Songs To Make Your Jones Stand Up And Say "Hell Yeah!"

(Warning: Listening to too much "Cock Rock From Kid Rock" may cause priapism)

Depending on your definition of cock-rock:

Hot Leg (featuring that screechy guy from the Darkness)

Hardcore Superstar, Vains of Jenna, Babylon Bombs, Backyard Babies and a whole slew of acts from Sweden and Norway

the Chelsea Smiles (featuring Todd Youth)

Danko Jones

Viking Skull

Velvot Revolver

And let's not forget the Cult.

Squier actually played with Ringo's All Starrs a couple of years back (2006) and the Jay-Z song from the new Pelham film cops one of his songs. And the guy looks tremendously fit and healthy.

If he still jumps around and dances like he did in the "Rock Me Tonite" video, then that explains it. Some serious aerobicizing there.

Dio is back with Black Sabbath! Only they're called Heaven and Hell now.

Cock rock? Since Ronnie's 67 years old, maybe we should call it Viagra Rock.

Allmusic.com says that video killed his career, I tend to agree.

I would have thought this would've resurrected it - Chazz Michael Michaels

even with all the pregame hype, satch quietly ends it with a penalty kick.

Hair metal. It's pretty sad.

On the other hand, the lyrics to 'Death to All but Metal' were amusing in a "Weird Al" sort of way.

Where the hell is Manowar when you need 'em?

Maybe they're still resting after this gig.

What is it with Bulgaria and metal?

Tell me, where can I find some old Cinderella and Trixxter T-shirts?

I want to scare people.

Dokken will do for some extra freakage.

Just come to Oklahoma City. All things 70's and hair metal on display. You can even get some cool Kix bandannas for your legs.
Re: Whatever happened to

I suppose he's not truly "cock rock", but John Mayer sure seems like a dick.
Re: Whatever happened to

How about The Darkness? Are they still lurking?
Justin Hawkins' appearance in that Joe Meek film could renew interest.
Re: Whatever happened to

The Darkness split into Hot Leg (the singer) and Stone Gods (the rest). The former sounds like the Darkness. No idea what the latter is like.

Fu Manchu?
Re: Whatever happened to
June 22, 2009 08:13PM
Not to mention Turbonegro. Can't believe I forgot them earlier.

Or if you want to expand your collection even further, get tickets to this festival. Loads of stuff on display and/or sale, for sure, dude. It's coming up in less than three weeks, though, so you better get on the ball.

Anthrax kinda sticks out like a sore thumb, don't they?
Re: Whatever happened to
June 22, 2009 08:36AM
Yup. Just like the Second Coming around here. Everyone's going to Rocklahoma. I imagine that the bands must love playing this since all the fans are so psyched for them. It ain't my music, but I know enough peoople who love this stuff that I can't criticize it without a whole lot of qualifiers. Anyone looking for testosterone in a can would be well off to visit here.

And the video was directed by Kenny Ortega, the guy who directed Newsies and the High School Musical movies. I'd love to hear how he got talked into doing the video. I mean, I'd love to know how much money and cocaine they threw at him to do it. No wonder he had all the naked women in his next video.

Just watched the video again. Might be the worst thing ever.
