Dan Rather kicking fucking major ass.
Then he said GW666 never fulfilled his (Go!) ARMY contract.

Next thing you (me) we all know Dan gets fired and its seven more years of war!

PS Cost: One Billion $ per month Americanos.

damn, thought this was going to be about the shit hot band from Tulsa I dearly miss, Ron Flynt owns a studio in Austin which would tie up the Sexton thread................

Don't remember watching 20/20 much - may have been good, I just always saw it as a poor stepson to "60 Minutes," kinda like what "Cracked" was to "Mad." But the band? "Yellow Pills" is stone-cold classic. Always thought the line about "everybodys got tight pants on" was funny.

From Tulsa? Thought they were local (LA)?

The band was based in L.A., but the principals (Flynt, Steve Allen) emigrated there from Oklahoma.

Flynt is much beloved around here (Austin) as a good producer, a reasonable studio owner and an all-around nice guy.

Ditto on Ron Flynt being a hell of a guy. I, too, was prepared to wax nostalgic about 20/20, too. Anyone see the Onion AV Club's Introduction to Power Pop? They recommended The Shoes as an entryway.

One other thing. The new Superdrag album is very nice.

Um, 20/20 is still on, but it's on ABC, as it has been forever (that idiot John Stossel hosts now, used to be Hugh Downs, I think). So I don't know what CBS show STEVE is talking about. 24 Hours maybe?

The only song I have by 20/20, the band, is on a Rhino DIY comp of American Power Pop (it's a great comp, by the way). Is it "Yellow Pills" or is that someone else?

I had no idea 20/20 was still on. Discovering that Stossel hosts it makes me wish I'd remained ignorant of its existence.

There was nothing worse than going to sleep on Saturday night listening to Art Bell and waking up to Stossel's Sunday morning radio show. Stossel is much more terrifying and surreal than Bell ever was (even when Bell was talking about the Shadow People, who are badass mofos for sure).

20/20's first two albums are usually pretty expensive but their comeback (13 years) 4-Day Tornado is very good and cheap. Don't know about the next one - Interstate, it is cheap, though.

Art Bell - didn't he disappear or something like that?

Delvin - my version of that comp is actually on cassette (remember those?) and only has the one 20/20 song. Looks like the expanded CD version would be worth picking up too....

And I just noticed Mr. Fab had already answered my question above. Perhaps I should start paying attention.

Yep. In fact, there are two songs by 20/20 on that comp: "Yellow Pills" and "Giving It All."

All the Rhino DIY comps are worth picking up, if you find them.
