I think that I heard a rumor that Idi Amin really dug Scottish anorak pop. He'd often warm up for torture sessions by blasting "Baby Honey" by The Pastels. Not just one of the one dozen or so available versions. The guy was dictator , fer cryin' out loud! He had all the versions playing at once.

Ceauºescu loved "Tom and Jerry", but just the old violent ones where the cat's hands exploded when slammed in a window. The new ones were too wimpy for Nicolae. He was a purist.

The Fatima Mansions had a pretty good song called "Ciao, Ceauscescu."

Lester Bangs wrote a piece in which he happened to listen to an old Folkways record of indigenous Vietnamese music and was startled to realize it sounded just like Jethro Tull.

Holy crap. This year will mark the 20th anniversary of him getting stood up against the wall. Time flies.

it was to be a cedilla on the "s" that didn't survive. maybe one of those yahoo emoticons with the tongue out would have been more appropriate.

Perhaps if Ceausescu's name had included a smiley face, he would've remained more likeable.
