The use of the word "Zionism" at all is questionable in my book. At the least, it serves as shorthand for extreme anti-semitism.

I'm guessing that nosepail was referring to anti-semites who use the word "Zionism" as a devious epithet. It's no longer acceptable to express hatred for jews, so many anti-semites disguise their hatred by substituting the word "Zionism" in place of "slimy Jews." It's alot easier to make a case against "Zionism-" or the violence of Israeli nationalism and expansion which has gone along with it- than it is to make a case against "the Jews" in general.

There are genuinely strong criticisms to be made against Zionism, but the anti-semetic fiends see attacks against Zionism as the first step in a campaign against all Jews. It's like how the 'smarter' Bible-nuts are using Intelligent Design as the first step in eradicating evolution from the classroom. They know they'd be laughed off the stage if they revealed themselves as outright creationists, so they come up with a scientific-sounding "theory" and try and get it equal time in the schools. After this they'll slowly roll back any evolutionary discourse, and after that they'll start putting anatomical diagrams of Biblical dragons in the Biology textbooks, alongside the photos of witchs' tell-tale birthmarks.

But I digress,

the point is that "Zionism" can be used as a code-word the way "internationalism" or "bankers"used to be. It's a code-word for slimy Jews.

"Zionism" isn't shorthand for "extreme anti-semitism." And we know Zionism doesn't mean extreme anti-semitism, and you don't call someone who is extremely anti-semitic a Zionist.

What you meant is that Zionism has been used *by* anti-semites as shorthand for "those damn Jews."

Trust me, I was pretty sure I knew what you actually meant. But what you wrote was pretty much the exact opposite of what you meant.
