Morcheeba. The Chameleons UK. Hootie & The Blowfish. Echobelly. The Pretenders. Any number of Jazz and Swing ensembles. The Cure. To name. Just A Few.

...and the capper (although I know it doesn't count as a band):

Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder circa "Ebony & Ivory!"

(((or)))

Joe Piscopo as Frank Sinatra and Eddie Murphy as Stevie Wonder.

"You are my amigo ... Negro, let's not fiiiiiight!"

.
.
.

I seem to rememeber The Young Ones referencing the original version in a sketch about Doctor Martens Boots ...

["... This is the band Radical Posture, and my name is Alexei Yuri Gagarin Siege of Stalingrad Glorious Five-Year Plan Sputnik Pravda Moscow Dynamo Back Four Balowski. Me Dad was a bit of a Communist, know what I mean?
.
.
.
We're going to do a number now that was a song in the charts recently about racial harmony. About black and white people living together side by side in perfect racial harmony together on pianos! It might be a bit stupid, like, you know what I mean, but I know pianos aren't gonna solve nothing, you know what I mean? There's one thing that unites us, one thing that we all have in common, what is it? What is that one thing?
Dis-integration

The Cure had Andy Anderson (black) for just one year out of a thirty-year career. He remains the only black to have been in their lineup.

I believe The Cure accrued a mention in the book "Things White People Like", and with good reason. Do you blame Andy for leaving?

(((ahem)))

I'd say "not that anyone is counting," but...

The lion's share of the groups I mentioned were of the exact nature that you point out. One-time shots and presto goodbye. I'm surprised that any attention at all is paid to The Cure (read: R. Smith and whoever is in the room when he cuts a record) and the swing item in the list goes by the wayside. For whatever you may think of middle-aged men in pancake makeup and fright wigs, swing / big band music (integrated on stage only, in most cases) has always been something that a great many "white people" like.

Do integrated bands fall into that category as well?

Honking 'cause I like Throwing Muses, The Del-Rays, Amy Winehouse's touring band, and Prince & The Revolution.

i'm not sure about the Connells.

kathleen & i sat, drank & ate fruit salad with them in ft laud de da once.
this girl had followed peele wimberly into the bathroom. Or as he described it, 'slid under the separation wall and tried to...do things to me.' In self described shock he continued, 'something like that has never happened to me before.'

He was as white as a ghost.
