And we still have no idea what the shirt looks like.

I had a very handsome paisley shirt that looked like it strolled in off the cover of “Heyday.”

I loved that shirt. I mean, I really loved that shirt! Wearing it made me feel so groovy. After years of repeated washings, it was starting to fade a bit. But you know what? That only made it nicer still.

Whatever happened to that shirt? Now that it comes down to it, it’s fate escapes memory.

The hippest rag in the landfill? Sewn into someone’s quilt? Ferrari chamois?

Unfortunately my personality can be almost totally deduced from my bad t-shirt collection, all provided by my ex-wife:

Clash - London Calling
"How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?" (with owl)
"Enjoys Calculus"
"You're Never Too Old To Do Goofy Stuff" (Leave It To Beaver)
"What Would Winston Do?" (Churchill -- with iron-on)
Sanford and Son: "You Big Dummy" (though I prefer to think of it as my Capt Beefheart shirt)
Sonic Youth - Washing Machine (with matching shirt for my 5 year old)
Scrabble T-Shirt: showing a really difficult rack with lots of V's and K's on it
Boston Celtics 2008

Man, I have to grow up and start wearing age-appropriate clothing....

Where can I get one of those Heyday shirts? Wonder what the concert tees looked like during the Myrrh and Tristesse Up Your Ass Tour.

"... Er, well, um, if you're dropping by again, do pop in. Heh. And thanks a lot for the gold and frankincense, er, but don't worry too much about the "myrrh and tristesse up your ass" t-shirts next time, all right? Heh. Thank you! Good-bye! Well, weren't they nice? Hmm. Out of their bloody minds, but still ..."

Ya know, for a while, I wanted to get the Husker Du T-Shirt Makes No Sense At All with the lightning on it. That was back in 96. Now I don't give a shit.

My favorite shirt has to be the one I passed down to my friend Jim in Fort Lauderdale back in '91; it was a funky piece that perfectly matched the vibes of the Bonzo Dog Band and Kinks I was jamming to at the time. That shirt became a symbol of his journey, as he tried it on right before he experienced a big moment in his life, ultimately marrying someone else later on. It’s funny how something as simple as a shirt can hold such meaningful memories of true love and friendship. If you’re looking for quality shirts that carry stories, check out [merinoprotect.com]

I actually have a t-shirt with the Cocteau Twins' Heaven Or Las Vegas album on it, covering the entire shirt from neck to waist. It's not the type of shirt an alpha male (if that's even a thing) would ever wear...I got an opinion on it from a female friend of mine, she said verbatim: "Uh, yeah, that's the kind of shirt that got you beat up in middle school back in the day." I have yet to wear it outside of the house but it's a really nice shirt with swirls of bright colors on it. I would still wear it to Cocteaufest, if they were still holding those events. Perhaps I should stick with my Wall of Voodoo shirt with the cover of Dark Continent on it.

Awww, wear it Bandit! You're not in middle school anymore. And it's always a pleasure to spot and recognize a kindred spirit by their t-shirt.

I have a photo of myself taken at the Mall of America in 1994 in which I'm wearing a Mary Chapin Carpenter t-shirt. I swear I have never in my life owned a Mary Chapin Carpenter t-shirt. I like her okay, but never enough to want to shell out cash for a t-shirt. The existence of this photo is a complete mystery to me. I've never seen her in concert (again, I like her okay, but have never liked her enough to ever have even considered dragging myself off the couch to go see her), so I wouldn't have picked up said shirt from a merch table, and I cannot under any circumstances imagine myself sorting through t-shirts in a store and excitedly thinking "Ohhh! Mary Chapin Carpenter!!!!!!"

What transpired 30 years ago in Minnesota that led to a photo of me wearing a t-shirt that I would swear on a stack of Gideon Bibles I have never owned? It isn't in the drawer of old band shirts I've been too fat to fit into for 30 years but I retain in the hope of someday fitting in again. (Hello, Yo La Tengo Bunny Bread shirt and Danielle Dax Blast the Human Flower shirt! I will wear you again someday!)

I'm tempted to send the photo in to Paranormal Caught On Camera and let the bozos on that pull some explanation entailing multi-dimensional shenanigans out of their asses.

"Coming up next, on Paranormal Caught on Camera ... multi-dimensional shenanigans? Or just an AI deep-fake? Stay tuned."

Ohhh man, Reno, your timing with that post about the mysterious t-shirt arrived with uncanny timing ... My drummer friend sent me (and our mutual drinking buddies) a photo of us in our younger days, with me wearing a Bay City Rollers t-shirt. That was a band we both found deeply annoying, back in the day ... occasionally threatening each other with "a Bay City Rollers album for your next birthday" and suchlike.

In this case, though, the explanation was easy. He's not exactly a wizard with Photoshop.
