Hello.. new member. Thought this might be the easiest way of introducing myself.

What've I bought recently? Well, physical purchases this week... a Grace Jones anthology, a Bobby Womack anthology, 'In the 7th moon, the chief turned into a swimming fish and ate the head of his enemy by magic' by the Kasai All Stars, 'Secrets' by the Human League, 'Scott 4' by Scott Walker, the Naked Lunch soundtrack, 'A proper introduction to...' by the Carter Family, 'Days of open hand' by Suzanne Vega, 'Berlin' by Lou Reed, 'Third' by Portishead, the High Society soundtrack, the Kids From Fame album, and 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' by Vince Guaraldi. Downloads... too many to name, really.

Welcome new member.

Intriguing purchases ..............I'm sure you'll get along quite swimmingly on this board. Everybody gets along really well and several of us have wonderfully predictable buttons, that when pushed make us go all haywire.

Example : What are your thoughts on Lucinda Williams' "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road'?

Oh nevermind.

Would that be the "old" Berlin by Lou Reed or the "new" live Berlin by Lou Reed..........(?)

Way to go keeping the record industry alive, white hotel!

Seun Kuti's debut is phenomenal - backed by daddy's band Egypt 80. (Also concert of the year.)

Also recently bought a download-only collaborative album by 2 extremely eccentric British folk: People Like Us (a girl) and Ergo Phizmiz (the boy) singing original lyrics over sampled antique recordings. Most weird and wonderful.

A recent visit to a Las Vegas resulted in a slew of vinyl one-dollar oddities that I'm still going thru:

- Scatman Crothers singing Nervous Norvus' "Transfusion" (a 45)
- "Music For A Striptease Party" (I'm also reading Gypsy Rose Lee's novel "The G-String Murders" right now)
- a Perez Prado album with song called "Cuban Rock," that does indeed
- Red Buttons reading poems he wrote to his daughter
- Buddy Greco, swingin' his way thru songs like "Help!" and "Henry 8th"

Re-issue of Indiscreet by Sparks on CD
MST3K 20th Anniversary Collection
My buddy Sterling writes Supergirl now. Good stuff, and that's the last "book" I've bought (libraries, don't y'know).

Yup. Geek.
