Humans From Earth

Somewhere I've got a cassette recorded from WFMU in 78 or 79 with a great song on it by a band called "Humans From Earth" called "Baby Edward's Hand". I always assumed they must have been a local NY or NJ band. I found a single by a band by this name once and grabbed it greedily - all I remember now is that the single sucked so bad I thought it must be a different band with the same name. Does anyone remember "Baby Edward's Hand" and could tell me if they ever did anything else obtainable?

Hey – I was just bumping around the internet, and found an entry from you from last year. I’m the bass player from the Humans! I have information for him that you may be able to pass on.The song in question was actually called “Baby Eggbert’s Hands” – and was about a strange baby doll that survived a fire, and whose hands were now responsible for mischievous pranks. The band had released 2 – 7” singles. JadedHeart/Half Life, and a second 7” that escapes me at the moment. I’m not sure which single “sucked”, or if it was even us. We also released a 7” vinyl (like the ones that used to come in magazines) for the holidays, which was aptly called “Happy New Year”. I also have in my collection songs that were recorded live in one of our final sessions at a recording studio in Ridgewood NJ. Let me know if you’re interested. I also know of several WFMU taped shows the band did back in the day. We had the record at WFMU for the most live shows – 12 – I think it was.

Hey, Bill, thanks! It was "Baby Eggbert's Hand" that I enjoyed - I no longer have the single I didn't, so let's assume it wasn't you <g>. But you've cleared up a mystery which has haunted me for a long time, anyway. I'd love to get a better copy of Eggbert and hear some more of your stuff if we can figure out some way that wouldn't be any trouble for you.
