Not quite sure I understand this thread, but this economy has me taking a mental note when I pass a tall bridge.

The Republican party has destroyed America. Anyone still peddling laissez-faire economics, deregulation, and privatization, or who otherwise pays homage to the mystical workings of "the market" (the most misleading metaphor of all time) is spreading pure evil. Defending corporate behavior is another satanic act. When the entire financial industry disappears in a 6 month span because of "creative" financial instruments, when mortgage industry has to be nationalized, when a single insurance company has to be given an almost 1 trillion dollar loan, IT'S TIME FOR SOME GOD-DAMN REGULATION! Michael Savage and Ralph Nader can agree on this for Christ's sake. McCain will kill us.

As you can see, the manic depression is catching me. Money Changes Everything.

I have deleted my post here, as it mainly just felt good to rant.

Suffice it to say, I second everything Nosepail says. But perhaps did so in terms which might have offended anyone who comes on here who might not share my political views.

Sometimes it's nice to find some insight on here more than the usual TP topics.
Yeah it made me reach for a rusty razor but you voiced what the majority has been feeling for a long time.

Yeah, I second what Madis said: Why'd you delete it, Reno?

Maybe it was a rant, but it actually was a pretty good one.

Just felt like it crossed the line of being disagreeable that my midwestern Baptist upbringing makes me loathe to cross.

Nosepail, you got my vote!

I had a "discussion" the other day with my wife. She'd been at her parents' house with the kids while I was cooking for the local homeless shelter (I'm crappin' ya negative). Her mother mentioned that she had noticed some Obama stuff at our house, and (as a long-time Boortz pseudo-Libertarian conservative) was concerned:

"Do you and Jeremy vote?"

What? Pardon me? I am a grown-ass man! I've been voting for 20 years! What?!? For some reason, my wife found this humorous.

It was then that I realized I am not just voting this year. I am telling people who I am voting for, and asking them for whom they plan on voting. I will talk about politics. Anytime, anyplace. Because this is way, way too important to take a pass on. You need a ride to the polls? Ride with me? You need a piggyback ride? Get on my back.

I may alienate a few (more) people along the way, but, in the words of Casey Kasem, "these guys are from England, and who gives a shit?"

The Republican party should be systematically dismantled for the irrevocable damage it has inflicted on our economy and national prestige. The events of the past week were grotesque. The same administration which sent us tax refunds in May now adds trillions to the national debt in order to cut a few necks off the hydra its party practically summoned into being with its free-market ideology. Please laugh in his face the next time you hear a delusionary Republican talking about "tax-and-spend liberals" or accusing Obama and/or Hillary of socialistic tendencies. Wasn't it obscenely ironic that the Bush administration had to pull a couple Hugo Chavez maneuvers these past weeks to stop the national death-spiral? Wouldn't you rather have nationalized health care than nationalized mortgage and banking industries? I sure as hell would.

"In the next 47 days you can fire the whole trickle-down, on-your-own, look-the-other way crowd in Washington who has led us down this disastrous path. Don't just get rid of one guy. Get rid of this administration."

Indeed, Obama. I would have said it stronger and used the word "jail" a lot more but I think you basically have the idea. Too bad, 45% of America will still vote for the other guy.

Sorry, I will stick to the vast topic of rock music in all future posts, but I am just spittin' nickels and pissin' pins right now watching the inevitable consequences of Republican policy unfold.
