Internet Radio

Anyone have recommendations for good Internet Radio stations? I mostly just listen to stuff on the iTunes radio tuner at work, but I'm sure there's some great stations out there that I've never run across.

I like Indiepoprocks/SomaFM quite a bit, Flashback Alternatives (pretty great 80s post-punk) and Radio Paradise plays a pretty wide mix of stuff, although they tend to get bogged down in long stretches of Grateful Dead and 70s jam band stuff before bouncing back with Calexico or someone. Plus, their website lets you link to different webcams and right at the moment the sky in Frankfurt, Germany, is a very disturbing shade of orange. The KCRW music station is pretty good, too.

wwhp.com, a radio station out in the middle of nowhere in central Illinois, plays a pretty good mix of classic & alt.country

How about WFMU, especially the Mike Lupica show?

WFMU is all I listen to online ... Some other shows:

Dave the Spazz -- wild '50s/'60s rock and new stuff that sounds like it

Heroes and Villains with Noah Zark -- Great hip hop show, with lots of truly old old school beats (K Solo and Kool G Rap, not Jay-Z circa 1998)

Diane's Kamikaze Fun Machine -- Modern metal (a la Mastodon), punk and raawwwwwk. Think Thin Lizzy on steroids.

Cherry Blossom Clinic -- Early and modern punk. Undertones, Billy Childish, Dirtnap Records, mods with a dash of '70s rock and power pop

The Push Bin with Lou -- He no longer does the show, but it's in the archives. An eclectic mix of electronica, hip-hop, dance music and stoner rock. I don't like all of it, but I'm always intrigued by it.

www.gearheadmagazine.com has a 300 song radio program. All punk, however.

Hippest college station in the world: KXLU.com

1) WERS.org (Emerson Radio from Boston plays great rock most of the day with a great jazz interlude b/w 10-2 everyday.
2) WXPN.org - WXPN Philly is the home of the World Cafe show and is generally excellent
3) KPIG in California is great and may be worth getting a subscription pass if you dig your trial listen
4) KGSR, Radio Austin
5) CKUA from Canada plays a nice mix of rock and world music-

WERS just cancelled their 20 year old metal show, "Nasty Habits," which kind of sucks in my opinion...

I like Dr. Yo at www.dr-yo.com. His server's almost always full, but if you get in his sensibilities will be a good match for anyone who subscribed to TP in the late 1970s - some prog, undumb punk, weird sounds for all.
