New Bomb Turks, anyone?

New Bomb Turks, anyone?

In my humble opinion, the'ye the hardest, fastest rock-n-roll band of the 1990's. Great stuff, especially the first two albums, and every album after that, each has a handful of songs that rank with their best.

Yeah - I've got Scared Straight (Jeers of a Clown - Brilliant!) and At Rope's End (where I think the songs make up for some questionable tinny production ala Husker Du).

I had a tape of the first CD, along with the EP (Drunk on C."%), but never got the other stuff until I downloaded Jeers, and several other songs from amazon.com. Since then, they've been in major rotation on my stereo.
I'll have to listen to At Rope's End again carefully to see if it sounds as tinny as Husker Du, as I seem to remember all the albums (from the Turks) sounding pretty powerful.

Personally, I always thought Scared Straight sounded crummy, like they did a bad job of mastering it. I liked the sound of At Rope's End a lot better. But then again, I like the sound of those Husker Du records, too.

If you don't have the second album -- Information High way Revisited -- it's almost as good as the first, and many of their 7" singles are well worth owning. The So Young, So Fair, So Debonair single is excellent (with "Got No Proof") as is the single with the cover of The Nubs' "Job." I can't remember what the A-side is, since the Nubs cover is so damn good.

so glad to see this band mentioned on here... start with "Information Highway" and "Destroy-Oh-Boy." Absolutely one of my favorite bands of the last 15 years... saw them at least a dozen times and they never disappointed...

... also, the Aussie single version of "Professional Againster," also on the singles collection "The Big Combo" (Drop Kick Records) will blow out your speakers... a different recording and way in the red... overamped and completely over the top... yeah, I like it.
