Seeing MrFab's note about the Minutemen reminded me to post a note highly recommending seeing the new Minutemen documentary "We Jam Econo." It's playing here in Portland this week, but I don't know what the release schedule is elsewhere. It's pretty great stuff, with a bunch of live footage and interviews (incl. Ian McKaye, Thurston Moore, Hurley and Watt of course, and Richard Hell noting that he's honored to have been acknowledged as an influence on them). See it if you can.
