Does anyone recall a guy called Lorenz Lorenz who did a song called three minute egg which was just him and his sax honking then yelling ay ay ay ay ay then honking the n yelling some more. The multicultural TV channel over this way had a show callled "Rock Around The World" hosted by this woman called Basia Bonkowski (subject of the Painters and Dockers tune "Basia") and she used to play heaps of whacky shit mixed in with heaps of ultra commercial shit. So it was the first place I saw videos by Trio, United Balls, Barnes and Barnes, Ideal, Avis Davis and at the other end of the spectrum, the first videos I saw by Bon Jovi and Krokus. But Lorenz Lorenz was the whackiest.

Can't remember the players' names offhand, but let's not forget:

Okay, maybe that last one isn't totally serious.... ^_^
p.s. do Lounge Lizards count as "New Wave" or are they too close to jazz ("fake jazz" or not)?

I'm also reminded of Elvis Costello's Punch The Clock, which had plenty of horns.

and I should also mention the excellent horns on The Saints' albums, both on Eternally Yours and Prehistoric Sounds.

I heard a really good Canadian band out of Winnipeg around 1983-84 called the Dub Rifles, and they had both a sax and a trumpet player, in addition to the basic 3-man new wave combo. They never made it out of the bush leagues though, as that sound was getting out of style by then. Which is a shame.
