I've been reading your opinions for years and am pleased that I can finally thank you for turning me on to many great bands. I have a favorite band that I've never seen referenced in any of your publications: the late, great Aussie folk-rock-punk band, Weddings Parties Anything. Have you ever heard anything by the Weds? They took their name from the tail end of The Clash's "Revolution Rock". They're a bit hard to describe but "The Pogues meet Richard Thompson" is sort of in the ballpark. Anyway, if you've never heard them, I'd be pleased to send you a compilation. Their leader, Mick Thomas, writes with uncommon sensitivity, while the band rocks with real authority.
