Yep, R.E.M. for the full hour. Mostly Accelerate material, with a few oldies sprinkled in.

Roky had an episode last season. It wasn't an hour, admittedly, but it was a great show.

they just replayed the Kings of Leon/Roky show a couple of weeks ago.......
I never did get Kings of Leon and, yeah, they did have one or two good songs................but Roky came out and blasted them totally out of their stretch jeans with "You're gonna miss me" and "Two Headed Dog" as his openers. Billy Gibbons and some of the moving sidewalks and 13th floor elevators backed him. One of my favorites.

There were lots of "Best ACL ever!"s amongst the staff after Roky completed his taping. I wish we could have given him the full hour. Maybe it'll come out on DVD someday.

I'm with ya on Kings of Leon. I don't get it either.

By the way, his backup band was a combination of the Explosives (drummer, bassist, lead guitarist), who were with him in the 70s, and the Summer Wardrobe (2nd guitarist, pedal steel player), who are an Austin-based psychedelic country rock band. And Gibbons, of course.

Add me to the "don't get it" list on KoL too. I saw the Followill boys as an opening act, and they actually were pretty dull.

Just watched ACL last night on the TiVO. It was a great show. The new tunes play very well live and Stipe and company seemed very laid back and relaxed and having a good time with it all.

I was surprised that Peter Holsapple wasn't playing rhythm guitar in the line-up. Is he no longer touring with REM? Anyone know what he is up to these days?

Glad you dug the ACL. They said nice things about the show, too - apparently they felt we treated them well and it showed in their performance.

Holsapple hasn't toured with REM in years. Scott McCaughey and, until recently, Ken Stringfellow have been the backup guys for a decade or so, at least.

A couple of SXSWs ago, I saw Holsapple play a duo set with Chris Stamey that was heavy on stuff from their album Mavericks, with some new tunes thrown in for another duo project. I haven't heard anything about that since, though.

The dB's reunited around that same time and have been playing shows on a semi-regular basis since. They've threatened to make a new record, but their website is mum on any news on that front.

He's got a pretty active MySpace page (if you're into that kinda thing) and it includes a link to the dB's site as well. Looks like they did some shows last December, but seem not to have had any since. Sure would be great to see a new dB's record.

I just added it.

One of his blog entries mentions a "corporate gig" he played recently. Was that with the dB's, or does he have something else going in North Carolina?

I didn't see that. I'd bet he's the kind of guy who would respond personally to an e-mail, so ask him! And then let us all know what you find out, including when the hell that dB's record is coming out anyway....
