Although there have been many memorable moments of rock & roll history on the telly, here's some that I wished that could have happened:
1. THE RAMONES ON SNL (1975-80)
Although the original SNL cast were known as the "Beatles of comedy",
the musical taste of the show, with a few exceptions such as Patti Smith,
were in the vein of Paul Simon, Janice Ian & the like, non-threatening
post-hippie "classic rock". I'm very surprised that the Ramones never
made it on the stage at 30 Rock. It would have beengreat to see them
do their thing along w/Belushi, et al. It would have also kick-started their
career here in the States.
2. KEITH MOON ON THE SIMPSONS
The Who appeared on the Simpsons a few years back (the episode in
which Springfield was split into two) & I felt that something was lacking,
i.e. the presence of Moon the Loon. It would have been great to see him
interact w/Bart & Homer.
3. JOHN LENNON & PAUL MCCARTNEY ON SNL
Lorne Michaels offered $3k for the Beatles to reunite on air in an
early episode, which John & Paul actually watched. Paul said that they
actually considered going down to accept the offer, which they didn't
do because they were too tired. I think that if they did appear, it would
have made a nice coda to the Beatles story.
4. THE CRAMPS ON THE MUNSTERS
This is my sly nod to one of the great threads on this site.
