I know people who set their alarms so they can wake up at 2 a.m. to sneak in and win the auction at the last second. I think they're kind of dopey, but whatever. I'm much more mellow about ebaying - I decide what the absolute maximum I'd be willing to pay for something is, put that in as my bid, then forget about it. If I get outbid, que sera sera. Once you get into bidding wars you end up paying $450 for something you never intended to pay more than $175 for.
