I heard "Winter Wonderland" yesterday and was reminded of how in grade school one of my more misguided classmates thought that the protagonists of the song built a snowman and pretended it was "Possum Brown."
Which is really just creepy. Who the hell is this Possum Brown, and why is he wandering around in the snow asking people if they're married? I think the kids should probably get in the house in a big hurry when he shows up.
And it's just as creepy if possum brown was a description rather than a name.
Explaining to my classmate that it was "Parson Brown" didn't make any difference, since he didn't know what the word parson meant.
