Song so powerful it blew you away

I know there are many that did this to me but the one that I can really say almost knocked me off my feet due to combo of powerful guitar, beat and lyrics was Stiff Little Fingers Suspect Device. Very curious to see what connections everyone else comes up with.

I heard the sex pistols record in '79ish on concert speakers (stolen Eagles gear I think) that sent me thru the neighbors wall.

Buzzcocks Autonomy pretty good too with marching guitar intro. To demonstrate this is not punk specific- Brian Eno-baby's on Fire-Robert Fripp incendiary guitar solo.

Freebird, Kumbayah, Stairway....there are so many.

But Soundtrack of Our Lives' "Instant Repeater '99" truly blew me away, even though I discovered it as an all-growed-up a-dult.

"Turn on the News" by Husker Du is the first one that comes to mind.

Memphis, Egypt -- The Mekons
Actually pulled the car off the road to listen to it.

I love those gotta-pull-over songs. I can think of twice it's happened to me: "When Doves Cry" and "The Fly."

Other overwhelming-on-first-listen songs:

Virginia Plain – Roxy
Problems – Sex Pistols
Born Under Punches – T. Heads
In the City – The Jam
Chartered Trips – Hüsker Dü

Also, the first time I heard "Mystery Dance" was when a local band played it at a garage party. Man, I'd love to go back and relive that moment again ... except without the curfew and the zits.

Ornette's Dacing In Yr Head LP: dark room, a few beers, headphones)

i must say calvary cross, blind willie mctell, blank frank, needle and the damage done, beethoven's mid quartets, i'm not like everyone else, talk, talk, the GD Norma opera, well shit, this list is too long...
