The Fags

Anyone else into this Detroit band?

I saw them a few years ago as an opening act. Got their self-released EP that night, and thought they might be bound for great things, if not for their name.

So I was surprised a year or two later to learn that The Fags had signed to Sire. And I also was surprised, a couple years after that, to read that they'd finished an album that Sire just kept sitting on, and had to fight to get out of their contract and get the master tapes. (Sire had a reputation for being one of the better labels to deal with, didn't they?)

Anyway, I picked up their CD Light 'Em Up, and it's choice! Great power-pop. Check it out if you haven't already. Deserving of a TP entry, too.

Light 'em Up is indeed a great record. If it had come out 10 years earlier and under a more marketable band name, they'd've been at least minor alt.rock stars.

i remember liking the ep quite a bit, but the full length didn't do much for me. it's probably either that they go down better in small doses or that i've finally outgrown that crap...hehe
