A friend of mine sent it to me. I have trouble understanding the logic of transporting a singer to Japan, then not even letting her sing her own song but instead having her perform a frightful disco number. I can only guess there was some sort of performing union rules or visa restrictions or something which would let Ms. Bush get funkay but not let her sing.

Nothing like foreign variety shows. I recall seeing a video of an Ofra Haza variety show for Israeli tv which was nearly as hair-raising as this.

As for your second question, I haven't a clue.

That has got to be the most bizarre videos I have ever seen, ranking right up there w/PiL on American Bandstand. Yet, I kinda think that a disco version of "Rolling the Ball" could have been a hit. It doesn't sound half as bad as the stuff that made it.
