Soliciting opinions here...is this a band worth exploring? Are they soulful rock & roll true believers or stodgy, uninmaginative clods? (I've read opinions that go both ways.) What's a good album to start with?

The only Stereophonics track I've ever heard is their cover of "Don't Bring Me Down" on the I Am Sam soundtrack. Hardly representative of the band, I'm sure.

The only thing I ever heard by them is "Dakota," which I liked a heck of a lot - enough to download it and stick it on the iPod, anyhow - but never bothered to explore any further.

I'm a big believer in the group. Unfortunately, they usually have about 3-4 killer tracks per album and the rest is not so good. Incredible live act. Kelli Jones (sp?) is a great, great singer. His guest spot with the Who on "Substitute" at Royal Albert Hall on that DVD was the best of the bunch.
