Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance has a comic out called THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY. It's actually damn fun - not the least bit Goth-Emo, and contains the best appearance of a robot zombie Gustav Eiffel this year.

Turning that right around.

Peter Bagge is in a band called The Action Suits.

Anyone heard or seen them?

i've got a couple singles. not bad...

but they've the misfortune of living right nextdoor to my action swingers singles, and can't nearly keep up with the haydens.

Haven't read Hell's, but I really liked Dee Dee Ramone's novel "Chelsea Horror Hotel," and his autobiography was pretty incredible.

Nick Cave's novel - been meaning to read it since forever. And I missed the movie he wrote, too.

I think I've mentioned Greg Kihn's horror novel loosely inspired by Ed Wood on this board before. Can't remember the title - something like HORROR SHOW or some such. An okay read, no great shakes.

For some reason I remember reading almost the entire thing in the parking lot of Tower Records in Schaumburg, Illinois. But can't for the life of me remember why I was sitting in that parking lot long enough to read an entire novel.

Cave's novel And the Ass Saw the Angel is a blatant, over-the-top William Faulkner pastiche that I, at least, found very entertaining.

His movie The Proposition is a lot more subtle (despite the violence) and quite good. Ray Winstone is especially good in it.

Richard Hell has written a bad novel.

Hell's semi-autobiagraphical novel (GO NOw)has him pouring wine down his aunt's throat and fucking her only to get caught by his girlfriend......( read at Border's standing in the music section).....
He was supposed to write a novel about driving across the country in a Caddillac supplied by jake Rivera or was that Elvis??????????

anyway some folks don't like hell at all.............

Speaking of Smithereens - Pat Dinizio & company are playing at the Riverboat casino up the road from me next weekend. Anyone seen them in recent years? Are they worth a Saturday night?

I went a company Xmas party a few years ago and they were playing there. Sounded just like I remembered back in the eighties. Funny thing was they played the exact same set twice!

Dinizio's teeth were distractingly "British" last time I saw 'em (3 or 4 years ago).

Gerard Way seems like a cool enough guy, for someone whose music I'm generally not interested in. Oddly enough, I've usually enjoyed the writing of John Mayer & Jimmy Buffett while detesting their musical output.

I have a philosophical issue with memoirs & the like. I'll save that for another time.

Sonic Youth appears to set the bar (so to speak) for a band with a plethora of side projects. Click here for further details.

Hmm, about the only thing missing from SY's lengthy entry is a band called Plethora.
