the rooks

Am I the only one who thinks these guys are unsung heros? I just relocated my Rooks/Twenty Cent Crush compilation from the mid-90's. Not being from the Northeast, I'd like to know whether they are still around in their area.

do they still play out????
i think so or at least michael mazzarella does. brooklyn?

i got into them--how's that for 60's banter?--backwardly coz of my love for Richard X Heyman's music, a one-time collaborator (sp?); wishing well rocks: through this band i discovered joisey's grip weeds whose last album is outstanding and through heyman again i started to listen to equally underrated chris von sneidern.

it is my humble belief, however, that it is heyman's lps that will last the longest. see IR's take at TP.

from a friend who plays with the drummer

re Michael from rooks

I know he just put out a solo DVD...I don't know if "solo" means him
alone, or merely means "not The Rooks."

Nobody's sure what's gonna happen as far as The Rooks. Everyone from
the last lineup hit the highway (first Kristen, who was always in
both the Rooks and Grip Weeds, left when things started picking up
for The Grip Weeds and it became increasingly difficult to commit to
both bands), then Ken Anderson moved out of state. That left Michael
Kelley who jumped off the sinking ship and joined The Grip Weeds).

Well tell Michael he is a czar and I love his stuff. I just picked up Encore Echoes from Vendetta Records and there isn't a weak track.
