Foster's on sale $8.29

And I can tell you that after four on friday It's like taking home an eight week old new kitten.

With that said,
My most recent hop and marley (uh, that's barley) thought is ...

Who are the people/bands that influenced/helped Brian Wilson to finish 'SMILE' ?

$8.29 for how much Foster's, Steve? A single oil-can? A six-pack? A keg?

Any which way, you got gypped, buddy.

"Foster's. It's Australian ... for piss."

Ha! Who needs Foster when you got Pabst Blue Ribbon?

Who helped Brian? LA band the Wondermints, his backing combo. An old-timer on my street who used to see the Beach Boys back in the day said the Wondermints are better then the Boys, even in the vocal harmony dept., at least so far as live shows go.

Yes MrFab you are.

Just in order to continue the story though, rumour had it some guy I bought weed from lived in Lake Worth on one a my streets had a chord or two (A Quarter to What Time?!) in it's conception.

Therefore and in conclusion are these people on OUR streets conspiriatorial?

I must admit, the Cola Porter intrigues, but I have a tough time with porters here in the Deep South, where the fahrenheit's been topping out at 85+ for the last 5 mos.

Yet, I have no problem with Breckenridge's Double Hopped (471 Small Batch) IPA (9.2% ABV) this evening, which is, as the name implies, one h-o-p-p-y motherscratcher. Is it too hoppy? No. Pine-Sol is too hoppy.

I realize I'm in over my head but I think I understand the rules to this game.

pop tones.

Yes.

I understand.

Paganizer takes more souls everyday in just this same way.

Coersion.

Actually, my experience with most Australian and European beers is along those same lines. If I could order it in its country of origin, it'd probably be excellent. But most beers don't travel well. (That's why Foster's needs the lemon — to disguise the skunkiness, mate.)

Besides, there are far too many worthy breweries here in Colorado (including the one in my own kitchen) for me to consider wasting my money on imports.

And Paganizer doesn't take souls. His duties are largely ceremonial.

recite yr kiddush
the ceremonial duty assumes this recipe:

(superseded)

It was with no small ceremony that I presented that recipe. It has won at zymurgy meets. I crap you negative. It won't bait your soul but it will by-produce Fosters so everybody wins!

10½ pounds of liquid extract? "No small ceremony," indeed! What kind of initial gravity have you gotten from this?
Re: Foster's on sale $8.29
September 14, 2007 05:23PM
3-to-3.5 lb can depending on your source and predilection
not three 3.5lb cans!

(D'oh!)

Beer travels less-than-well; just turns it skunky and sour from being shook. Can make it taste like hay (ala Heineken or, the grass-like Grolsch). Can also make a brown-bottle beer taste like a green bottle that's had UV exposure.

never been too happy with ambers
sort of a wish-washy style
something in that vein that's better than what i got (and finished SMILE for STEVE) would be fun though

And here I am, planning a move to Alabama, where it's illegal to sell beer above 6% ABV. Good thing I'm not going to sell any of mine.

Yeah, a porter will definitely be a winter beer in the south.

How's this one strike you? I've done well with this. I also have an IPA recipe I'm quite pleased with, but I don't have it at my fingertips at this moment.

"Studded Tire" Amber Ale

Ingredients/Directions for 5 U.S. gallons:

4 oz. 2-row Pale malt (grain)
4 oz. 40-L Crystal (grain)
2 oz. Canadian Torrified Wheat (grain)
6 oz. Victory (grain)
8 lbs. Pale malt extract (syrup)
½ oz. Northern Brewer hops (bittering)
½ oz. Saaz hops (flavoring)
2 tsp. Irish moss
¼ oz. Saaz hops (aroma)
¼ oz. EK Goldings hops (aroma)
1 vial American ale yeast (Wyeast #1056)
½ oz Cascade hops (dry hopping)

Steep grains in 3 gals. water; remove grain bag as the water reaches boiling.

Add malt extract and bittering hops at beginning of 60-minute boil.

Add flavoring hops with 30 minutes left in boil.

Add Irish moss with 15 minutes left.

Add aroma hops with 5 minutes left.

Rack with enough water to make 5 gallons; pitch yeast at 78°F or below.

Add dry hops when transferring; leave in secondary for 2 weeks.

Standard ¾ cup of corn sugar for priming and bottle-conditioning.

I do love me some Fuggles.

Now, Delvin's recipe is more in line with what we'd consider to be an American Amber (generally my preference, personally, if anyone cares)...

Anyone know whether or not the claim that the "unique" Bass Ale finish is due to the water from which it is made (allegedly from the Trent River)? No doubt about it, there is a pronounced alkaline quality.

BTW, Delvin, I know 6%+ ABV is readily available in GA & NC. The GA distributorship laws are pretty annoying, however.

My pleasure.

I do very well with my witbier recipe every year, and with my Trappist ale recipe (when I feel compelled to brew it).

And I had exceptional luck last year, on my first try, with a Belgian bière brut. Not heavily hopped, but I got it up to 11.4% ABV. Let me know if you want that recipe.

If you have a clone for Straffe Hendrik, please pass it on!

Greene King? They sell that for less than Dasani (& possibly Diet Coke)
in the UK!

As the attendee of several Atlanta Silverbacks A-League Soccer Games over the years, how is it there are always a grand total of 3 adult beverages available: Miller Lite, Tecate & Boddington's?

Yes, interested.
Also, curious about yr results. I've always been under the impression that kitcheneers can brew up a Belgian brut/trappist/lambic-whatever but that it's just gonna condition out as an American ale resembling a Belgian style (not that that's unwanted or anything). What characteristics did the Brut present (at 6000' alt no less)?

From what I've been told, the easiest ways for me to acquire quality beer in Huntsville will be (1) to brew it myself, or (2) to drive 20 miles north to Tennessee and buy it.

I don't know anything about Bass Ale's claims ... but thanks to some buddies of mine, I just acquired half a kilogram of some absolutely superb chocolate from Whitby, in Yorkshire.

mmmmmm, porter.... Give me a pint of Fuller's London on that night before they strap me into the chair and I will go with a smile. Of course, I dont permit myself to by the stuff anymore because they have gone to 11.2 ounces. (Can anyone tell I am the ideologue in the group???)
Re: Foster's on sale $8.29

Fuller's London is excellent. My favorites, when I've had the pleasure of visiting the UK, have been Wells Bombardier Bitter and Boddingtons Bitter. (Boddingtons is one of the few imported beers I'll buy here in the States, along with Lindemans Gueuze.)

Greene King IPA also was very good. Check out this advert for a good laugh. Prost!

Re: Foster's on sale $8.29

OK, Delvin. You shot down my digital music appeal, but I will buy you a Boddingtons any time...

You're the idealogue?
I watched that commercial and the first thing through my mind was , "without the Abrahamic notions of death and mortality or the cultural-mythological cues, would this commercial have relevance or might it have an entirely different interpretation?".

Beer. Nature's equalizer.

Apart from the aforementioned ABV, it has a strong flavor with a sweet top note and a buttery finish, and a glorious champagne-like effervescence, complete with those threads of tiny bubbles that rise up from the first sip to the last.

I was replying to jermoe's message about the 3 adult beverages sold at sporting events. I noticed the last 4 games I attended in 4 different venues, plus the Orlando theme parks, all had Newcastle Brown Ale as well as the aforementioned.
