Request for info and insight

I'm in Huntsville, Alabama this week, interviewing for a few jobs. As things stand now, a move to this city looks pretty likely.

I haven't yet scoped out anything about the music scene in this town. Nashville is about an hour and a half to the north, and the music scene in that city is pretty vibrant ... not just country, but a wide range of music.

Anyone have any insight to offer, for good or ill?

Doctor: I'm afraid you have two months to live.

Seriously, though, Delvin, I've lived in the South since 1972, and here's what I have:

You're basically in Tennessee;
Chattanooga isn't too far, and is way underrated;
Birmingham isn't too far;
Atlanta, Memphis & Knoxville are a little further.

Jermoe, THANKS for offering an answer! Jeez, it was looking as though all I was going to get for my request would be a supply of jokes that I could tell down here, if I ever felt like I wasn't getting enough use out of my dental plan.

I've lived in the South before too (New Orleans, and then Mobile), and have found it to my liking overall.
