The Return of CD vs. Vinyl differences

Just pulled out the Rhino issue of BLACK SNAKE DIAMOND ROLE by Robyn Hitchcock and was reminded that the version of "The Man Who Invented Himself" is different there than the one what appeared on the original vinyl version, which featured a prominent saxophone part.

I prefer the original, although the one on the CD I have is not at all bad. Still, wish I had a digital copy of the original version.

I have a British CD of Black Snake Diamond Role, and it includes the original version of that song, with the saxophone part.

I have the original sax version of "The Man Who Invented Himself" on a quasi-bootleg CD of Robyn odds 'n sods. Also, his catalog will be reissued on Yep Roc, so there might be a chance that the original version will be restored to its rightful place.

What's the latest with "Black Market Clash"? Is the original version available on CD yet, or should I keep hanging on to my 10 inch (er, perhaps I should rephrase that...)

I think if you buy SUPER BLACK MARKET CLASH, GIVE 'EM ENOUGH ROPE (the latest version) and the current version of the debut, you're covered. Unless Mick finds something buried in his mum's garden. So to speak.

I think my CD (the actual disc, moved to my garage several years ago) of Hitchcock's QUEEN ELVIS was mislabeled as the "Madonna of the Wasps" single. Interesting.

Hitchcock and Ryan Adams should have a Michael Caine/Gene Hackman showdown one of these days.

The original is still not on CD.
(Black Market Clash 10" and SBMC are different mixes.)
There's some Clash stuff still not on CD though the singles box set clears up all but a few.
