1. Was apparently 39 when the first Suicide album was released. 39.
2. Suicide's second album is the one best 'forgotten' second albums.
3. "Jukebox Baby" still sounds like the best song Elvis Presley never recorded.

4. Frankie Teardrop horrified the shit out of a lotta people.
5. Did Elvis better than Elvis.
6. Outdid The Clash on stage.
7. Viet Vet - you owe him a debt.

Played "Frankie Teardrop" on YouTube while folding laundry with the girlfriend ... and her only remarks were:

1.) "Is he just gonna sing about Frankie?"
2.) "I gotta tell you ... this song isn't doin' anything fer me."

. . .

But she also claims to have never heard "Little Red Corvette" before either.

. . .

RIP Alan Vega.

He lived the artist's life on his own terms and went out peacefully. You can't ask for more than that in this lifetime.

Maybe this means his early solo albums will get reissued (again).

I spun the first Suicide album this morning, for the first time in many years. I finally realized how many drone guitar bands I love take nearly all their cues from this band. Bless 'em.

And might I add that 2 of the 3 Suicide albums released after they got back together in the late 80s are really good. (Er, I forget which ones exactly.) As with so many other greats, it's not just about "the early stuff."
