I was enjoying the new EP "Exponentialism" which has Gazelle Twin and I Speak Machine [Tara Busch] covering four John Foxx songs. The results were so engaging, I did a little research to see if they were the first females to travel down this path. Not by a long shot! In 1984 another woman released the first Ultravox! cover tune that I can find references for. Dig:

That's right. Eurodisco queen Amii Stewart covered "Dangerous Rhythm," the debut Ultravox! single in 1984 on an LP released in Europe. What's weird, is that I went to the iTunes store and it was there, so I sampled it. Not half bad!!

Oh, but Amii's version doesn't have the cool fade in like the original, nor does it have the reggae-style stuttery guitar riff. At least it retains the nice bass line. The music's decent, but I don't like her voice or style for the song. Nice try, I guess.

Wikipedia says Kata Kärkkäinen is …

an author, artist and columnist … and then goes on to list her measurements?
Q. - Am I obligated to include that information if I cite her work in a research paper?

Actually, I was aware of the "Cat House" cover since it's my favorite Danielle Dax song! When performing discographical research on Discogs.com [which is how I spend way too much of my time] stuff like this tends to pop up. Can't say I was as impressed as I was with the Ultravox! cover.
